Principles
How I work
The same values on every project, whether it is an IoT platform or a foundation's donation form.
- We talk before I build
- I start with the problem and the words we use for it. A plan gets agreed before code gets written.
- AI-assisted, human-approved
- I use AI agents every day for drafting, review and checks. Nothing goes to production or to a client without a person approving it.
- No bullshido
- I just don't like bullshido. I prefer specifics, sometimes straight to the point, so neither of us wastes time. I speak plain language, without jargon. At least I try.
- I leave order, not dependence
People I learn from
- A senior colleague, A. F.
- Has shared a huge amount of experience with me almost since the start of my career.
- Jordan Peterson
- First 12 Rules for Life: I take responsibility for my own life and sort out my own mess every day. Lately also writing as a way to think.
- Jocko Willink
- Extreme ownership: whoever leads owns the outcome, including the parts that went wrong.
- Andrej Karpathy
- How large language models work underneath, explained from first principles.
- Matt Pocock
- Engineering workflows for AI coding. Many of my agent skills started from his.
- Paul Graham
- Essays on startups, and on saying things plainly.
